Jinbei and Yukata are Japanese summer nightwears or pajamas. Many Japanese people also wear these in festival (Obon Festival and Eisa Festival).

See my kid’s picture below, when they are little we just got back from Okinawa and these Jinbei were gifts from my family. They are so happy to wear their Jinbei with Japanese animation characters and special Japanese footwear called a Gata for the first time. You can the wear Gata(下駄) with Jinbei and Yukata. (Little tips; there is another footwear called the Zouri(草履). The Zouri is for when you wear a Kimono(着物).)

I was thinking of making a Jinbei for my little three years old. I found this Japanese site that gives free Jinbei Pattern downloads and also they listed lots of sewing patterns;  Yukata, tops, skirt, pants, Hawaiian shirt and  Anti-bacterial mask(抗菌マスク) and many more in Japanese.

Cape Zanpa point and Lighthouse are right next to Zanpa Park.  Zanpa Park and Cape Zanpa are located in Yomitan village and it’s one of costal Quasi-national Parks in Okinawa.

Capes precipitous cliff is 30 m down and length is 2km (1.24 miles) long.

This area Yomitan is also known by the first landing locations to the US armed forces’ in mainland Okinawa, 1945 World War II.

Zanpa Misaki (Cape Zanpa), you can enjoy days of fishing, diving, and snorkeling. My uncle used to go fishing in there and catch good size fish.

Beware some rocks are very sharp and if your with little ones you should be cautious.

Cape Zanpa Lighthouse 残波岬灯台

This picture was taken from the park looking at the lighthouse.

This lighthouse was made in 1974 and was first opened to public in 2001, you can pay little money to get to the top of the lighthouse and if it is a nice day you can enjoy the view of the Aguni Island, Kerama Islands and the Kume Island.

It is a very beautiful view of the East China Sea.

This is my home town Yomitan village. I used go there when I was little.

I was looking through my pictures and I found some interesting before and after pictures of the huge Shisha.

Below is a before picture taken of the Shisha the first time my kids went back to their 2^nd home in Okinawa.

Almost 10 yeas ago, my son who was 6 years old and my daughter who was 5 years old
were posing on the huge Shisha. We were having a contest on the cutest pose.

And below is an after picture taken of the Shisha almost 4 years ago with my oldest and younger sons.
They were having a contest on who the strongest.

Did you realize the change in the Huge Shisha?

Well, I am not sure if this Shisha has any legend? I have to look into that one.

Anyways this Shisha is a symbol for Yomitan Cape Zanpa Park and is known for its huge Shisha. Behind that Shisha theres a very nice and large park and they have nice playground for kids. Also there is a place called Zanpa it’s a relaxation and refreshment plaza in this park and they offer a nice area that you can play tennis, soccer, soft ball and rugby, and they also have a Restaurant and barbecue area. Cross the Street from the park there has nice beach called Zanpa beach and Next to the Park is Zanpamisaki Royal Hotel. You can go there and jump in pool, go in the sauna and golf too…

hmm… you can have so much fun in just this area to for days and days(fun in OkinawaTime)

Park is 7 days week but office is closed every Wednesdays.

昨日、家の外方からスペースシャトル「アトランティス」Shuttle Mission: STS-125 が観る事ができました。

スペースシャトルの写真を撮りました。

家の子はとてもワクワクしながらスペースシャトルを眺めていました。

私の家からケネディ宇宙センターは1時間以内でいけます。ココビーチは30分以内。オーランドは1時間以内。

家の屋根の後ろを見てください火玉見えますか?スペースシャトルです。

ここの天気は晴れていてスペースシャトルはよく家のほうからも観ることができます。

スペースシャトルの音はとても凄いですよ。

読谷山花織(ゆんたんざはなうい)

読谷村座喜味の役所市の近くにある読谷山花織事業協同組合
で商品は販売しています。織工場は別に有りますが、基本的に
織手の方は自宅に機織を置いて、織物を作っています。

歴史
約６００年前、ブータンより花織布が伝来。沖縄で独自に織ら
れるようになり、明治の中期に衰退幻の織物となるが、昭和３
９年に復活。

原材料
綿、絹にフクギ、ヤマモモ、リュウキュウアオイ、テカチ、グ
ール、シイなどの草木染を手作業で何度も染め上げて、独特の
深みのある糸に仕上げていきます。

織り
銭花（じんばな）風車（かじまやー）扇花（オージバナ）の３
つの基本花を組み合わせ３０種類以上の花柄を織り、タテ、ヨ
コ、チェックのラインを加えた模様が多い。

※通常沖縄の方言でティーサージとは、手拭いの事を言います
が、読谷山花織では、ショールのことを言うようです。そして

And here we are finally at the Hiji Large Waterfall (Hiji Ootaki).

My kids were trying to get me down in water.

Also, they have a camping area if you’re interested.

Make sure you wear shoes it’s about 40 minutes walking to hill. Also, you should bring Sandals (or Water Shoes), Towel, Hat, Bug spray, Sunblock Lotion, and Water Bottles.

うるま市赤道（旧具志川市）に在るミニミニ動物園という所のポスターの写真です。

This is a poster for Mini Mini Zoo and is located in Akamichi, Uruma city (old Gushikawa city)

入場無料でアトラクションはないのですが、かめ５種類位、蛇 十種類位、ウサギ７種類位、ふくろう二種類位、孔雀、はと、 にわとり、あひる、ラマ、ワラビー、アルマジロ、オウム、い んこ、などなど結構動物充実しています。

Free of charge but no attraction, many fine animals living in Mini Mini Zoo and they are five varieties turtles, ten varieties snake, seven varieties rabbits,   two varieties owls, peafowl, pigeon, chicken, duck, llama, wallaby, armadillo, parrot, true parrot, and more.

経営はずけらん養鶏場のオーナーがやっていて、園内にたま ご屋というシフォンケーキ、ロールケーキ、カップケーキ、シ ュークリーム３種類？たまご、ゆでたまご、冷凍チキン、を自家製で売っていて、後、シャーベットやアイスクリーム（自家製じゃ ないのが残念だけど）も販売しています。安くておいしいと評 判ですよ。

They are owned and operated by Zukeran Chicken Firm. Inside the Zoo they have Tamago-Ya(Egg store)and they sell home-made food like sponge cake, roll cake, cupcake, and chou a la crème, three varieties eggs, boiled egg, and frizzed chicken. Also they sell sherbet and ice cream, (unfortunately it’s not home made) but it’s known to be delicious and cheap ice cream.

I agree with her on some of the issues but she gave a lot of good tips, like: when you taking a seat on the bus, try to get a seat near that bus driver and let him know where your destination is. He will probably help to let you know when you are there or you may have to find someone who can help you in English.
