空Kara means empty; 手Te(ti) means hand, thus “Karate” means “the empty hand”. Shuri-Te, Naha-Te, Tomari-Te are the three styles of Te (Hands) that Karate descended from.
空 手 [Kara te] is the Japanese pronunciation and [kara ti] is the Ryukyu language pronunciation.
It’s changing between vowels in Japanese (e) to (i) in Ryukyu language.

Shihan Angelo Mendoza (Shito Ryu) and Sensei Yagi Akihito (Meibukan Goju Ryu Okinawa, son of Grand Master Meitatsu Yagi) in a friendly match. Also, Shihan Angelo performed some Tai jutsu techniques.
